This is short article about a child that has unusual behavior and that he gets upset when he does not organize things the way he wants to. The article talked about that at this age that the children are learning how things work and fit together and they are actually gaining their cognitive skills that is liko to object by function and category. I taught it was pretty interesting, because I'd seen a couple of children at the age of three or four that really liked organizing things, and they enjoyed it a lot too, I'd always wondered why.

This is a really good article, I think I read some other article that at the specific age around 3 or 4, they do tend to like things organize, and they get a tantrum or upset if its not done. I think what it is, in that specific age, they learn at that stage to organize and it pretty interesting for them and they focus on that specific task.

I actually seen this in one of my observations. One child in particular would take extra time to put up all things in a neat and orderly fashion. The teacher would tell him oops you got 2 more minutes make it hurry scurry. This was pretty interesting to me because no matter what was going on during class time you could observe this child arranging things in a particular order everytime. Now I see that it wasn't an obsession but just a learning skill for the child or so i hope so! lol

Interesting. I liked this article. My almost three year old son gets anal about his little hot wheels and matchbox cars. He lines up all the race cars, other cars, trucks, vans, tractors, and emergency response vehicles together in their little groups. If he has duplicates of something they have to go together. When my 17 month old takes one of them or messes them up he gets upset and says "N destroyed it!" I used to pick that he was OCD like his daddy but now I see that its an age thing.

I like this article I lived with three sons that have different things they collected and organized them in their rooms in certain palces and knew if you moved them. The fact that one of them was so organized about his baseball cards and comic books but his closet was a disaster was always unusual to me. My young had beany babies, leggos and action figures that had to be put in aq certain place and he knew if you moved them. In school his teachers wanted him tested for ADHD but we knew better at each stage in their development they were learning something not being obsessive at all.
