This article is about hyperkinetic disorder and how it is rising and becoming common to children and adolescents. Hyperkinetic disorder is a person who is overactive and have difficulty concentrating. In this article is said that back in 2007 percentage of person that had this was 2.2 percent, and also that it keeps rising. I believe that there is many children that are very hyperactive, but I do not think is that much at all. I believe that there are some children that are said to have hyperkinetic disorder, for example in school, in class they are not allowed to talk unless they are told to do so, at lunch, they had a light that would tell them when to talk and not to, and also, they had so little breaks that lets them talk and play with their peers. With the children not being able to express themselves almost the whole day, of course they would be hyper when they get home, and parents would then have doctors see them and some would be quote to have hyperkinetic disorder. I just wanted to point out that it depends on situations.

I think this is a good article but I think that some "disorders" are doctors giving diagnosis to children for no reason. I know that ADD, ADHD exist and Fidgety children probably do as well but I think its just another label to slap on to a child's record.
I think that too many parents are readily and willing to give their child a diagnosis for ADD/ADHD. The doctors are willing to oblige.
I think that parents as well as school rely too much on drugs when dealing with children rather than communicating the children. Teachers in school that are tired and over worked see children that do not fit in the mold of the not real world feel they need to be given drugs. Children need time of expression, children need to play and get fresh air. Having taught Physical Education in all levels, I think children not only need to be in PE classes but younger children need recess time where they can run and play. We are growing a generation of couch potatoes. At least now they get up and move to play the Wii.

I've heard reports of pharma and the APA sending reps to regional and national teachers meetings to give "lectures" on recognizing ADD & ADHD children.
I do believe that some light cases can be managed with behavior modification and healthier diets. I am a little nervous on what the long term affects of these drugs may be for these children who may have not needed the medication as much as others. If the child honestly needs the medication that is one thing but I think sometimes we jump the gun
It does in some cases, but I sure do hope they do more test then they usually do.
